About Harrington’s

Drink global. Think local.

Our beer range is global, taking in styles and flavours from around the world. While our outlook is local, supporting regional suppliers and providing honest to goodness, real craft beer at a price that’s agreeable to the hard working folk of New Zealand.

A tasty brew for all of you. Whether you’re a crafty newbie or take the time to “read the beer,” we try to cater for many tastes, palettes, and occasions. Plus of course, there’s the whimsy of our brewers who like to push the boat out to see what delights drift back in on the tide of creativity.

If you’re old enough to recall, New Zealand was a tough place for beer drinkers in the 1980s. Overpriced, sugary brown ales dominated the market and the big breweries had a duopoly that meant  “choice” was something that Kiwis beer drinkers could only say to one another.

As the brewery grew…

John and his Brewing team began experimenting with traditional styles of beer that were less available in New Zealand. Twenty-Six years later, a site shift to Christchurch, and this has grown to a range of over 15 beers, including a range of Ciders that are being enjoyed up and down the country.

In 2012, Harrington's Brewery took out the Brewer's Guild Grand Champion New Zealand Brewery award.

A testament to the skill and craft of Harrington's hard working brewers. The award was nice after a tough few years following Christchurch's earthquakes, which saw one of our buildings destroyed.

They’re drinking Harrington's beer “over there.”

Not bad for a stubborn little idea dreamed up while trying to give folk a bit of choice, bro. If you pop down to the brewery some time, John or one of his family will be around somewhere, keeping an eye on things and making sure the beer is bloody good.
